6/Swords indicates a time of healing and processing after trauma. Not quite out of the woods yet, we blearily make our way to the light.
Maybe we feel unsure about our next steps; perhaps the only thing we know is we survived and things will get better. As we move towards a healthy place, we still may be sad or regretful over what was but hope is like a beacon off in the distance. You know you will move towards something better, you know you deserve something better. Many traditional cards depict a person directing the boat. Not much is talked about this person but I find this is an indication that when we are at our most bereft, we are never alone. Spirit always carries us over the gap. Your only job is to learn hard lessons and get better. 1. I have been struggling getting over this issue in my life. 2. I am experiencing and processing trauma around this issue in the following ways... 3. I am being gentle with myself and hopeful about my future in the following ways... 4. I know Spirit is carrying me over the gap because...

The Sharman-Caselli Tarot
5/swords depicts a man who has 5 swords while two others face away from him in defeat. The man is vibrant in his victory and cares not one iota that the cause of his happiness is also causing the misery in others. 5/swords is about self-interest, selfishness, possibly unethical behavior, and open conflict.
As much as we would like to think that we can justify our behavior all of the time, being human we have all done something in the past to get ahead, something we may not be proud of. Rather than forget how we have trespassed against others, the mark of spiritual and personal growth is to own our actions -good and bad- make amends (ourselves included) and move forward having learned the lesson. While it is easier to not think about times we are not proud of ourselves, owning up to our faults with compassion and mindfulness allows us to learn from from our mistakes. We can condone ourselves as good people while at the same time feel shame about our actions and commit to acting better moving forward. 1. What is something you have done in the past that you feel guilty about? Have you done any work to move past how you feel about what you did? If not, what is stopping you? 2. Write briefly about a time where you did something against another and made amends, what happened and how did you feel? 3. How can using mindfulness (instead of justifications, excuses or ignoring what happened) help youtpo

You awaken in the middle of the night from some disturbing dream and find you cannot go back to sleep. In the darkness and quiet all of your fears, anxieties and guilt come tumbling out as surely as if they were monsters under your bed.
Thoughts and beliefs you shove deep down all day long finally have a chance to dance about your head as your lay there trying to regain a sense of control. 9/swords is about the misery we put ourselves through. When day comes we walk through our day bleary eyed and incredulous about the horrible feelings that dissipated with the rising sun. 9/swords calls us to face those nasty little night terrors and work to put them behind us because there is no use or good or healing in making ourselves feel horrible. 1. Sometimes I lay awake at night and have these kinds of thoughts... 2. On a scale of 1-10, how silly are these thoughts of yours? What would you say if your best friend told you the exact same thing about herself? How do these thoughts continue to hurt you? 3. 9/swords can also come from a feeling of helplessness about an aspect of our life, what do you think this might mean for you and do you think its true? If the thoughts are not objectively true, why are you still having them? 4. Feelings of guilt can spring from something outside of your control, or is a call to action. Think about any guilt you harbor, which one is it?

Today's card up for your reflection is the Queen/Swords. In traditional Rider Waite decks there are only three swords in the whole deck that are pointed absolutely upright, this Queen's, Justice, and Ace of Swords. Like Justice, this Queen embodies and symbolizes the ideals of honesty, truth, transparency and an intellectual life devoted to cutting away illusion.
This Queen dispels any attempt at coercion, dissembling or manipulation as she cuts to the heart of every issue with her keen and clear thinking. This Queen often comes up in readings when we need to take on the Queen's characteristics; undertaking to resolve an issue and most importantly, when we are not being treated fairly by others. This Queen has very healthy boundaries and is not afraid to let others know when they have crossed the line. 1. I need to shore up the following boundaries with others in my life... I need to do that by... 2. When someone is being dishonest or unclear with me I handle it by... 3. Women are often socialized to 'play nice' and not share outright feelings or opinions if it may be disruptive to others, this is how it has affected me... this is what I need to share... 4. I need to bring clarity in this area of my life... I am going to do that by...
2/Swords troubles the still waters of pretending that 'everything is ok.' This card denotes blocked emotions, refusing to see the truth of something, inability to make a decision or to take a stand. This card is fear.
When we refuse to face naked truth we are often unable to truly move forward in our lives. This card is the impasse; the immovable uncomfortable stalemate we are creating because we believe that to carry two swords indefinitely is better than to allow one to fall. But it is really only an illusion we are creating to kid ourselves because we cannot defend ourselves in this way, nor can we attack as needed... all it takes is one fingertip to topple it all. 1. All of my skeletons are nicely packed in my closet, if I were to open that door I am afraid that this would happen... 2. I am afraid that if I allow myself to truly feel this emotion, this will happen... 3. If I truly decided to see the honesty of this situation, my life would become... 4. If I let go of my illusion, it would free me by...

So what happens we ignore the signs that 3/swords from yesterday brings to us? Our ego: negative repetitive thinking, concern over status, society, being alone, being broke, being a loser, etc. these are all those thoughts on replay that allow us to stay in situations that make us miserable.
Today I did not use a Tarot card to illustrate the message of 8/swords because I found this 30 minute performance artist Louisa Hamidi taping herself to the wall in a piece called Self-Induced Imprisonment (video). 8/Swords can be a hard card to accept because this card forces us to look at the ways that we are playing victim and places sole responsibility of our lives right back where it belongs, in our lap. 1. I am not happy with this situation but I am staying because I fear... 2. When someone points out an aspect of my life and I get defensive it is because... 3. These are some of the self limiting thoughts and behaviors I have/do that self-sabotage me... 4. Even though scary, I am committing to re

A student of the Tarot said 3/Swords is like, "the harsh, hard light of truth piercing an emotional fantasy." I never forgot that beautiful interpretation of 3/Swords. 3/swords indicates heartbreak, betrayal, loss, loneliness. 3/Swords often appears when we desperately need to see the truth about a relationship. This includes any relationship: romantic love, friendship, career, family and so on. Sometimes we are so blinded by attachment and our perception of love that we ignore all the signs that tell us that we are in a relationship that is not right for us, it is not working.
3/Swords is a hard, hard truth but I believe that this card is one of the greatest gifts of Tarot. This card is finally, hearing the truth; the time of wondering and hoping and obsessing and crying out about your unmet needs are over. You get a new beginning, and if you learned your lesson from 3/Swords that new beginning will be so much happier and joyous. 1. I have been betrayed by another person in the past, these were the signs I chose to ignore... 2. Staying in a relationship that wasn't working hurt me in the following ways... 3. It took this to finally leave it, but once I did... 3. After I left that bad relationship, these are the following beautiful things that entered my life...
After the energy of Monday, Tuesday is defining and shaping the continued momentum as the Page of Swords; giving you the energy for a sustained, curious, mentally sharp, and idealistic course of action.
Perhaps you will solve a problem that has been vexing you, or see a solution that was difficult to discern. Maybe you will find your concentration sharp as you tackle a project. The only concern around the page is that she has so many wonderful things to think about that her energy can lose focus and be fractured all over the place. Ahem... how much time are you spending on social media, hmm? 1. What in your life needs your razor sharp focus right now? 2. Do you find your attention fractured, flitting from one subject to another without learning anything deeply? If so, what would you like to gain mastery in and what's stopping you? 3. What do you need to get to the bottom of in your life? What have you been avoiding because is requires more intellectual focus than you care to expend (like taxes, buying a home, learning Spanish)?

That inner critic of yours needs to take a break. Today take a break from the inner voice saying your clothes are not enough, your weight/hair/car/job/personality if not enough. You are enough... yes you are. 1. If I could give my inner critic a break today, my day would feel like... 2. If my critic isn't nagging at me I can use the inner silence to really think about... 3.
