Happy Birthday Pisces!
And welcome Spring!
The overall feeling of the cards I pulled for ya'll is one of 'taking care of your business'. Many of the cards talk about work, projects, and stepping up to the plate.
What do you need to be responsible for?
What feels good take responsibility of?
3 out of the 4 pages make an appearance, indicating that all of us will be getting interesting news of various topics, pages are messengers and this spring they are brining the newness that only a new world, a new spring can bring.
Lastly, there are a few cards that concern themselves with hearth and home, so keeping it domestic feels good, too. Time to prune away the wood, and swep out the underbrush so the daffodils can joyously spring forth!
Now, you know comes the pitch. Need more clarity on what was revealed so far?
I got you.
For some reason, most of the Tarot'Scopes are talking about pacing. Some of you will be told to hurry up, others to slow down. I guess the energy this month concerns itself with how you are doing things and the ways in which you are caring for yourself.
Politically and on the world stage there is a lot of chaos. People are feeling the uncertainty and fear of a new situation, feeling burnt out from social media and the ongoing drumbeat of news.
Hey, it's okay to take a break and unplug yourself.
You are not a lesser person for needing to not give a shit for a day or a week as you recenter and balance yourself.
The world will continue without you bleeding out. Take care of yourself, first. The world has monks and hermits and cloisters for a reason. The work of prayer and silence in a mad world is incredibly useful and important, this can be you, too.
Thank you for stopping by. Want a complete reading? Hit the link below.
You do not need to be a Shaman, Lightworker, Medium, or Ghost Buster in most cases when house clearing. For most cases, you can easily clear your own home of negative energy whenever you feel like you need to do so. I personally think that House Clearing is a wonderful thing to do with every season change, and especially for any major occasion.
House Clearing is the simple removal of negative, stagnant, or even hostile energy and replacing it with beneficial, positive, flowing, and protective energy within and around your home.
Have you ever entered a room or a building and felt a sudden sense of uneasiness? Conversely, have you entered a space that just felt...well, good? Often you had no real reason for why you felt the way you did but this is in fact you being affected by the energy of the place.
Negative energy can happen when there has been negativity in that place. Depression, divorce, loss, arguments and so on can get trapped in a place and continue to infect the people who come in contact with that place. Just like cleaning the house and changing the sheets after you have been ill, you also have to clear the energy of a place to invite a healthy vibration in.
The start of a new year is a perfect time to clear your house of unwanted energy and replace it with good. For the purposes of this practice, this is NOT covering homes which are haunted. I am only talking about the living energy, or qi, that effects our spaces and is also generated by us.
When clearing a home I follow these basic tenants:
Declutter, Organize, and Clean
The first step to house clearing is actually cleaning and organizing your home! Energy gets stuck in places that have too many things, dirt, or too much clutter. Additionally, the emotional energy of things no longer used, needed or valued leave a kind of negative vacuum pull on a place. So the first part is to clean your space from top to bottom, get rid of all the things no longer needful, useful, or important. Qi likes a lot of open space to move around in. It is no coincidence that cultures who value the work of Qi have homes and spaces spare and clean. This alone will have a HUGE impact, even if you do nothing else.
Clean You—At this point, you need to clean yourself. I recommend a salt scrub or Epsom salt bath as part of your personal clean up. Wear something simple, that you can move in. No makeup, no jewelry, and go about your home barefoot. Have a ‘come as you are’ frame of mind. At this point, only you (and anyone also actively involved in your house clearing) should be in the house. Your husband who looks at you questioningly, your darling 13 year old daughter who is too cool for school need to go out for the day. It is important that everyone in the house is crafting the intention or setting, or out. Pets and babies are okay, their energy does not disrupt even if their noises do.
There are many, many ways to clear energy from the home. One of the most popular is to burn sage and smudge your home. If you burn sage to smudge your home, do so in a thoughtful fashion; begin on the top floor and follow the lines of the walls in a clockwise fashion, making sure to cover every space but not needing to go over it again. While you do this, open your windows so the negative qi has a place to escape. Yes, I know, it’s cold in January so bundle up while you do this part!
Florida Water—A favorite of Santeria, voodoo, and hoodoo practitioners. You can get a bottle for $5. It is often used for clearing energy. You can sprinkle it like you would smudge your space. I use Florida water when I am on travel and reading at festivals, it is easy to carry, smells nice and has no clean up. It has a long history of good uses. Another thing you can do is add Florida to all your house cleaning preparations!
Broom—If burning sage or smelling up your place with Florida water is not your thing another handy way you can do this is to buy a broom. It should be all wood and corn husk, nothing synthetic. It does not have to be a long handled one, but a hand one could do. I have a special broom that I use just for this purpose. Just like with smudging, you should start at the top and work your way down through the house (yes, with windows open) sweeping the air, the walls, the corners—imagine that you are pulling dust up and sending it out through the windows. When you are done, leave your broom against the wall outside the front door of your home. This also acts as a powerful protection aid (you might not have noticed, but next time you see me you will notice a nondescript broom laying right outside my reading room.)
Now that you have cleaned and cleared your space, you are ready to invite beneficial energies to your home.
The blessing part is tricky because your blessing should reflect your own spiritual beliefs. It does not do to say the Lord’s Prayer if you’re Buddhist. It has to be something you have faith in, something YOU believe. If you are a follower of a religion, simply look up what they do and follow that. For those of you who are nondenominational of heart, yet spiritual, I offer these words below:
Jenna’s House Blessing
I adapted this from the more traditional Navajo House blessing. I really like the inclusive family and community aspect of this blessing. I light a white candle and carry it with me from room to room wherein I read this prayer in every room or large transit space like the hallway or stairs. If you want to include other people who live in the home, having them come with you and recite this prayer with you as you move from room to room only increases the goodness.
This home, my home, shall be surrounded with light, love, goodness, and prosperity.
This fire shall be for the good of the family. And the children that are born in this house will all be in good health. Any plans we make in this house will be for the good of the family.
May this be a good place for us to live, may our lives be long and happy in this home.
May I live in this home happily and peacefully and with respect.
May I have a happy life in this house. Myself, my spouse, my children, my relatives, whomever may come into this home, may they relax peacefully and rest. May all of us have no sickness, no misfortunes.
May my house be in harmony; From my head, may it be happy;
To my feet, may it be happy; Where I lie, may it be happy;
All above me, may it be happy; All around me, may it be happy;
May my fire be well made and happy;
May the sun, my mother's ancestor, be happy for this gift;
May it be happy as I walk around my house; May this road of light,
my mother's ancestor, be happy.
I bet by this time, your house is feeling pretty amazing right now. You have cleaned it, cleared it, blessed it and now we need to seal in that goodness. There are many, many ways to protect your home. When I think of protection, I think about protecting space from both the outside and the inside. We want to protect our space both from things that filter in from the outside, as well as things that may erupt on the inside.
Things to be placed inside the home.
Salt—I buy kosher salt from the Jewish section of my local grocery store because I like the texture but any salt will do. Salt has long been used for protection rituals and perhaps that came from its ancient use, salting meat, literally protecting meat from putrefaction and disease. Sprinkle your salt inside every entrance or window to the outside. It does not have to be a lot. As you do so just recite the following, “Encase all negativity inside your crystalline structure. Gift of the Earth, protect this home.” Leave the salt as long as you can, but if you later vacuum or sweep it up as part of your house cleaning that is okay, it will have done its job.
Candles—I like to use those white 7 day candles in the long glass jars you can get at the dollar store. Instead of salt, you can light one and leave it burning at each window sill and near the outside doors. Of course, be mindful of any fire risk. Lighting each one, you can say a prayer over them such as, “Light of the World, repel all darkness with your glow. Gift of Fire, protect this home.” I usually let the candles keep burning for days until they are done. But, you can decide whether that is a safe choice for you.
Mirrors, Crystals, and Lights—Notice any areas that have darkness to them, an underused corner? A room that is not well-trafficked? These are areas where negativity can collect within a home. Say you get into a fight with your loved one, that energy can linger and get stuck in places. Spot the dark areas and place things there that increase the qi vibration such as mirrors to reflect light, crystals that raise vibrations, and actual lights in those areas.
Plants—Things that are living also bring raise vibrations to spaces that may be underused. (If you have noticed, I have a lot of plants in my reading room. Since I spend time in my office only when reading and that energy can often be lo, I have worked hard to incorporate things that will purify and raise the vibration of the space.)
Things that help to stop unwanted energy from coming inside your home. Again, use any or all as you feel comfortable with. There is no one right way, just the way that feels right to you.
Bagua Mirror—This 8 sided mirror should be placed outside the home, facing out. It is a great repellent for outside misfortune being directed at you.
Funny story, last year I was dealing with someone who was a real nasty character, she tried to turn a whole community of folks against me with lies. I came home one day to find that my bagua mirror that had been sitting outside my bedroom window for the last 3 years was on the ground and broken. But how it fell was really strange, it had somehow fallen from my second floor window hen doubled back to land on my porch below. That means it would have had to fall in an arc, I don’t know how that happened. But I learned days later that this very same person hired someone to come to my home to hurt me. It never happened. I am a big believer in the Bagua.
Nazar—The blue eye that is meant to ward off jealousy, evil eye, negative thoughts directed at you and so on. You can have these in the house, but I find that placing one right at the entrance to my home stops any bad energy in its tracks.
Mezuzah—Mezuzah are a Jewish tradition of placing a scroll in a lovely container nailed to the doorframe of the entryway to a home. You can also place one at the doorway of every room. There are so many Mezuzah of all different kinds, all truly beautiful.
Bowl of Stones—A pagan aspect of this (and one I have used in the past) is to get a terracotta bowl and fill it with stones. As you place each stone in the bowl, recite this small spell, “By Rock, By Granite, By Stone, By Earth—Capture hex, Capture Crime, Capture bain, Capture hurt. So Mote it Be.” Then, place the bowl of stones at the foot of your front door. This will sink any bad energies before they enter your home. You can also make one for other entrances to your home like the back door or the door to a garage, for example.
Finally, after all this good work you have put into clearing and making your home (or any personal space) feel amazing, it is time to fill it with happiness and good cheer to truly lock in all the blessings of the new year.
Family Time—Having a nice dinner with your loved ones who all live in the space would be great. Have a candlelit dinner and spread good cheer and affection for each other. Reaffirm your feelings, tell your loved ones how much they mean to you, snuggle with your pup. A home stays positive because YOU are also building the good energy. Make your home a place of love.
Invite Others—Have a nice get together with friends and family who spread positivity and love. Don’t invite bitter Aunt Melba for this, or anyone you have friction with. Just your besties and those who feel really good to you. Allow their love of you to also fill your home.
Get Freaky—Sex with someone you truly love is a beautiful thing. It is opening, and intimate and it has powerful energy. Use it to your advantage.
It is a lot of work to fully clear a home and make it as energetically healthy as possible, but the effects are so worth it. We often use tarot in such limited and limiting ways. It is like having a fancy scientific calculator but only using the most basic calculations, largely ignoring what the other buttons can do for us.
I spend a lot of brain power thinking about the nature of time. It is in fact impossible to ignore since my days are filled with time based questions from clients such as, "When will he? When will that? When can I?" kinds of questions. First, if you have ever had a reading from me you know I resist those questions because I doubt the basic assumption here which is that time and fate are linked like a train going down a track: Past created present which will create future.
I believe that time is not the railroad, but rather a tree. Every decision we make causes branches, twigs and separation to occur. And, just how a tree is a current living embodiment of itself as its whole self, so too do I think that the potentiality of future yous all currently exist.
There are an infinite number of yous currently existing through all dimensions of time both past, present, and future. And they are all real and moving at the same time with relationships to one another also in real time.
Every choice you make, every aspect you consider is like skipping a rock across a lake, the ripples effect the whole matrix wherein all yous reside. That matrix is space time.
So while I disagree with the simplistic notion of time, I do think that tarot has an ability to open a window, showing us a branching off (one of many) from one of our many future selves. That window is, however, relevant to the causality of the present moment, and important to the person asking the question. In short, there is often no one right answer, there are many right and wrong answers and tarot can help us look at them all.
We are of course heavily biased from our present-perspective. For example, we want past life regression, but I have yet to hear about anyone conducting future lives progression. Do I believe we can do both? Absolutely. It shouldn't make a difference. In fact I have had a series of future life dreams over the course of years (but this is a blog for another time).
Our bias also influences how we use tarot cards. We normally conduct readings as a present person wondering what will happen in the future or we use a tarot reading to gain clarity on something that has happened in the past.
But you know what else you can do? You can do a reading from your future you to present you. Next time you decide on a tarot spread of your choice, ask your future you to send you a message via the cards. What does one of those future state yous want to tell you?
Instead of asking God, the Universe, your guardian spirit to guide you to the right cards and message, ask a you of 5 years from now, or 10, or 20. Ask them what they, the future you, would like to tell you about your present moment. Don't ask about the future. Ask the future about the present you are now inhabiting. Trust me, they are super invested in your choices right now.
And when you are done getting the message from your future you. Write them an email, this free service will send your email to you on any date in the future you desire. Shoot one off for a year, or 5 or more. Thank future you for the heads up as you navigate your present.
For me, tarot is best served as a message from the future concerning our present predicament. The message is not an objective tallying of what will be, but rather a heart centered message catered to the present moment we must navigate, It is advice to head up one branch of the causality tree and to avoid the stem of another. Tarot can be grand probability machine to hack greater clarity in our choices and our life, right now and for all the nows before and after.
Welcome to 2017!
2017 in tarot numberology is a 10: the Wheel of Fortune. This may mean a year of upheaval; do not take anything for granted, for it might change in a New York minute. Also, expect things to stall that you were hoping to move forward on, are you walking up the wrong
walkway at the airport?
The good news is that if you have been at the bottom of the barrel in some aspect of your life, then you might be encouraged to know that your bad luck will soon change! What is up must come down and what is down must come up!
Finally, 10 is also a combination of the Magician (1) and the Fool (0) so think of Wheel of Fortune as a strange kind of tarological Schrodinger's Cat. Energies winking in and out of existance as we all ride the quantum wave. What needs to appear in your life, and what needs to disappear again? What is being held in stasis between these all?
Here's to wishing you a very, most excellent 2017!
So long, farewell 2016! It's been real, hasn't it? We lost a lot of amazing public figures. We had a lot of political upheaval and we just need to take a breather, bake some cookies and kiss our loved ones.
This December is fairly gentle despite Mercury going retrograde for the bulk of it. I think we all need a little breather. Try to finish 2016 gently, she had a rough time.

This year, I decided to create an Ofrenda (Day of the Dead altar) for my dearly departed Grandmother. Growing up Californian, I was lucky enough to enjoy the Day of the Dead celebrations around me; from parades to lively cemetery scenes, to the scent of marigolds in the air, that while I am not of Mexican origin, Dia de los Muertos grew in my heart. After moving to the north east I grew to miss this lovely remembrance day terribly.
Above is my Grandmother's Ofrenda. It has some classic elements like food and drink, as well as it being built as a three tier system. But from there I took liberties. I found things I remember my Grandmother liking, fortunately for me, Grandma liked a lot of things that you can find at your local drugstore! I am not easily able to get to a Mexican area to get things once easy like Calaveras (sugar skulls) or pan de meurto ( bread of the dead). But, I took the spirit of what I remembered and created something that works.
I cannot express how connected I feel to my Grandmother while pulling together my ofrenda. She feels so close to me. It felt like a meeting long overdue. For November 1st, create your own altar, it does not have to be fancy, just meaningful.
Call them home tonight.
Happy November, fam!
I pulled so many dark cards for this tarotscope that I was hesitant. I wanted to reshuffle, I wanted to pull my punch to make you happy, and safe, and secure and comfortable with whatever it is the Universe and you are creating.
But, if I did that, I would have no right to call myself an Oracle. Sometimes, I feel tremendous pressure to create a happy image because many people who experience anxiety turn to tarot as a source of comfort. But the role of tarot is not to become an anxiety alleviating tool. The role of tarot is to clarify an issue that is hidden--especially if our ego is hiding it.
This is the (trust me) very hard work of a messenger. As a Gemini, I am ruled by Hermes, the Messenger, and I take my role seriously, my vows to Him are sacred. So because of that many of you will have a dark tarotscope this month. I have to trust the message is for your greatest good, do you trust that, too?
Scorpio--8 of Swords
Sagittarius--10 of Swords
Capricorn--3 of Swords
Aquarius--Page of Swords
Taurus--6 of Wands
Gemini--4 of Cups
Cancer--The Hanged Man
Leo--Queen of Cups
Libra--Page of Cups

Last year I spent two glorious weeks in Britain and Scotland. I spent my days wending my way through castles both restored and crumbling, traipsing through field, hedge and moor; I expected to see some ghosties on my way through. I mean, aren't the British isles known for their ghostly activity?
As an intuitive, I can usually feel if there is some spiritual activity happening in the area around me. I think most of us can. From the inexplicable feeling of unease, to the sense of being watched in an empty room, most of us have had an odd feeling we couldn't put our finger on from time to time. But what takes a casual observer to a full on believer of spiritual activity is when those poltergeists are about, the noisy spirit that is able to make changes in our physical world that we cannot explain. You never quite believe it, until it happens to you.
I have had several of these poltergeist experiences in my past so when they happen now, my kneejerk reaction isn't to run, but to investigate. I stay in the room, I ask questions, I talk to the spirit and see if there is anything I can do or help with.
While I do that, the sweat down your sides feeling of terror can sometimes be hard to fight off and it was that feeling I was left with as I hung out in the Doll Room at the Museum of Childhood in Edinburgh, right on the Royal Mile. It was not a place I expected to have an encounter and honestly I was just curious about the toys and excited that the entrance was free!
The Museum of Childhood is 5 stories of games, hobbies, dolls, books and various toys throughout the centuries. It is a wonderful little museum and when I arrived it was fairly quiet being about an hour before closing. I started on the 5th floor and worked my way down before finding myself on the 3rd floor, the floor of Dolls. Imagine that, a whole floor of them, case after case of dolls.
The room of dolls has an instant creep vibe. It has cases upon cases of dolls from the renaissance to modern times and from every region of the globe. At first glance, you might think these are just dolls that little girls play with. But the selection also includes collectibles, fascinating mechanicals from the early 1800's, on up to modern Bernstein Bears and the like.
I decided to stay in the room despite feeling creepy and noticed that the few people who did cycle through did not stay long. They breezed in and out, probably picking up on the same creepy vibe I did. But when I encounter that feeling, I investigate.
I lingered in a certain corner because I noticed that some of the dolls were the exact same ones my Mother had. My Mother lived in Scotland in the 60's, so I do not know if it was just what was popular locally at the time, or coincidence. But I was feeling nostalgic and touched.
In that corner there was also this Shirley Temple doll. I was also reminiscing about how my Mother liked Shirley Temple and when she was a little girl, people often remarked about how she looked like her with her curly hair. I was standing in this corner for about 10 minutes reading all the info and reminiscing about my Mom when all the sudden, right before my very open, alert, sober eyes... Shirley Temple's eyes opened... okay, will you. just. look. at. that. doll?!?! Naw, girl... nope to the nope degree.
Shirley Temple had one of those eyes that, when you lay her down, her eyes close and when she sits up, her eyes open. However, her eyes were closed the entire 10 minutes or so while I was standing there. And then, all of the sudden, they popped open! I didn't move, we are not talking about some latent vibration from the floor, no one else (of course, right?) was in the room but myself. My eyes could not unsee what they saw, and I knew deep within my soul that this was no coincidence.
Now, my first instinct was to hightail it out of there. I got clammy from fright and my inner deer was like, "GTFO of there, girl!" But, I am no noob when it comes to spiritual investigations so I stayed.
I called out, "Hello. I saw you, will you come out to play?" Making a guess as to who, or what, might be there. Has to be a child, right?
I lingered a long time but I did not see anything more except feel a presence. I took my time, I pulled up a chair and more closely examined the cases in the room. One case was called, 'Dolls Around the World' and it was here that I found very interesting things...
No children's dolls were these, but powerful dolls, dark dolls, dolls that should not be kept here...
The label calls this a voodoo doll from the West Indies, and that may be true, but the paper attached to it, is in Nordic runic script, and points to a more local use. My eye was drawn to this doll first out of familiarity, but it was not, I suspect, the cause of trouble.
Now this one was interesting. A Peruvian 'painted figure' found in a child's grave. Was it a doll? Did it have some other purpose? It was not until writing this post that I googled this museum. I found several articles that claim that people have heard the sound of children crying from this very room! Alright, so I have established a history of poltergeist activity.
The stories attribute the crying to children who died but left their dolls behind, but perhaps there is more to that story than originally revealed.
A second google search reveals that these are, more correctly, Chancay (named for the people who lived on the Peruvian coast before the Incas) people and these Burial dolls have an unknown function. Child's toy, companion to the after world; we do not know, and neither does this museum. What we do know is that it was grave robbed.
But we are not hardly done, and I had not yet found the 'culprit' of the activity. This doll, a Sudanese maternity doll 'bought from witches, magicked with fertility spells is no plain effigy.
There is power in these dolls, no children's playthings are these... and while these are all certifiably alarming as to the possible origin of my disturbance... They all pale in comparison this last doll.
This doll below, I believe and felt, was the source of suffering...
Just look at the doll first and tell me you don't feel...something very dark. I know I did.
My eye went to this guy in the case and i felt electricity shoot through me
. This dark and very mysterious thing.
According to the plaque above, this is a "spirit doll' whose skirt hides the box which contains the spirit of a dead chief of the "Achewa' tribe. I say again, a trapped soul.
The moment I placed my eyes on this Chief. I understood that this was the home of disturbance. I do not know the story, the cause, the why or how it got into this museum but I know he or she doesn't belong there.
It feels so incredibly sad.
He or she belongs back with the Chewa where they may put his or her soul to rest--There is no 'achewa tribe' but there is a Chewa tribe--Even in this, the cultural ignorance is hard to miss.
It has to be one of the creepiest things (and I have had many) I have experienced. But mostly, it made me depressed.
As colonizers, many developed nations own and imprison artifacts that are not their right to have. This guy needs to go home, and there will be ongoing problems with that room and that museum until they do. Perhaps this is what I have been asked to do.
This little lady has teeth! Isn't she special? Apparently back in the 1800s they went for realism, but why are her teeth pointed?
I know you want to leave, Pumpkin, and I wish I could take you.
Usually there is a reason for poltergeist activity. Often, that reason is suffering. Find the source of suffering, and you free a soul. Next time something spooky happens to you, don't run, face it and ask, "How can I help"
The vast majority of my clients prefer to come in whenever possible. Most people seem to believe that a phone reading is not as accurate. This however, is completely untrue. In fact, I have found not only do my phone readings match my in person readings, they can often be more accurate!
The reason why I think this is, is because I need to spend much of my processing speed on vision, which is huge and greedy demand on our brains. You can see this in action when you notice a singer close her eyes, or when we are trying to remember something; we shut our eyes in order to re-purpose our processing speed on something else. In fact, it is very natural to do so!
I believe that there is a biological center for clairvoyance, or perhaps that there is a place where soul and biology meet, and this place needs a lot of my neural synapses to do well. Even if we are not talking about clairvoyance, but rather, intuitive insight, it draws on the brain from a myriad of places into one big thrust. Only recently, have neuroscience began to attempt to understand that mysterious factor, intuition.
If you have been a client of mine (or any other intuitive) you perhaps have noticed the phenomenon where I don’t look at you to give insight. In fact, I often look away from you (and, sometimes, clients will turn around to look where I am 'not looking!) Eye contact with you (lovely as you are!) distracts me. Your reactions, your facial expressions, your body language (that con artists might use as ‘tells’) just gets in my way. If I am concerned about your reaction, then I am not paying attention to the thing I really need to listen for, the information. Looking at you means I have to divide my processing into visual and clairvoyance, and you are not paying me to look at you, you are paying me for the latter.
You see the same kind of thing with traditional Shamanic clothing and rituals. They almost uniformly seek to shut down visual input. If I could, I would read for you from behind a screen! But, since most people want to see me, to visit me, to see the cards, then I make that accommodation; but from the perspective of strength of clairvoyance, in person readings can often hinder, rather than help, a session.
I can feel when I have made a connection, proximity has nothing to do with this connection. When it comes to clairvoyance, it does not really matter. There have been successful experiments where connected individuals had remarkable results across continents replicated experiments that, of course, have been largely ignored because the scientific community has its own bias to work through. Whether we are talking about connecting to some kind of super string consciousness, or another dimension; I just do not know. All I know is that you being with me, sipping tea, while I love having you, does not help what I do from an insight perspective.
Alcohol, Illness, and Fatigue
As a full time intuitive, I have found other strange things to oddly helpful, too. Against what many ‘New Age How to Be Psychic’ articles on the internet might say; being buzzed, ill, or extremely tired makes me a better clairvoyant. On the surface, I feel like crap. I don't feel like playing nice, or being a good host or pretending I'm pleasant when I feel gross. However, these times can often be the most powerful readings I ever conduct.
In my full time practice, I noticed that, strangely, when I feel like crap, I am often the strongest intuitive. My best guess is that these three things exhaust the conscious, judicial mind. My rational, linear, judgmental, logical mind, the ego, is laid low by any one of these things and when that happens, the clairvoyant aspect of my mind can rise more clearly. In fact, I have joked to friends that to have the best possibly reading with me is when I feel absolutely crummy. Or, if I have had 2-3 glasses of wine. Now, drinking and reading in most circles is actively frowned upon big time, but for me it totally allows me to relax inhibitions, not worry about the message, don't focus overly on social approval, and I just allow that nonlinear space to come in and reveal great things.
You also see traditional Shamans using these techniques to increase clairvoyance; from taking substances that alter consciousness: not eating, not sleeping, doing rigorous performances that subdue the ego and allow the vision–all of these actions were hacked by Shamans millennia ago. They also noticed that when we find ways to lay the conscious mind down, amazing things can be seen. So when I am ill, under the influence, tired, I give great readings.
To have an intuitive session is to be slightly out of mind. For some reason, the shift has to be outside of the general work a day. Have you ever, when in deeply in love, felt that other person’s energy so strongly you knew if they were having a bad day? The extreme chemicals of falling in love create a small ‘madness’ thereby allowing that clairvoyant mind to rise up more keenly.
What Doesn’t Work:
Anger and Anxiety– If I am angry, or anxious, these are both emotions firmly rooted in the ego. “How dare you treat ME this way” or “What if they don’t like ME?” These emotions come from that busy monkey mind and that mind is not where clairvoyance lives. I try very hard to eliminate these emotions from my practice. For me, this is why I rarely do last minute readings and need things scheduled well in advance. I find that last minute changes, demands, or abrupt shifts in my schedule to be anxiety-producing and I know that anxiety shuts me down. Every intuitive is different in terms of what causes anxiety, for me, last minute changes produces it!
This is also why, when a skeptic comes in with the, “No, YOU tell Me! YOU’RE the psychic!” kind of energy, I don’t do well, either. Clairvoyance does not respond to challenges, anxiety, or testing; these are all places of the ego and if I am worried about pleasing you, or meeting your challenge, or proving myself right then that actually makes the work I need to do (quiet my ego to hear the message) much, much harder to do. Then when of course the skeptic, after filling their reader with anxiety, doesn’t get a good reading it only reinforces their belief. It is like standing over an artist, pointing a finger at the canvas and yelling at them, “You better paint perfectly or you are no artist!” Who can work under those kinds of conditions?
Prior to my reading day, I have to keep things calm, I have to be in a very receptive place. When booking tarot parties I am now very careful in what I accept. I know that I will not be a strong intuitive if I just battled heavy traffic to get to you. I also try to keep my personal life as calm as possible. Being angry at someone will effectively kill my ability to read for you.
If I tell you I am sick, overworked and tired. Book a reading with me. I won't promise to be pleasant, but you will get something more often than not, extraordinary. And, if I tell you a phone reading will be just as good, please believe me. And, if you are the type to demand last minute things, to want to test me, know that that works against you, too.
